Meet Sabrina Glogower! Inside Overlay Specialist at Edmentum.
Tell us about yourself!
I grew up in Freehold, New Jersey. I attended Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ where I earned my BA in Education and Psychology. I also attended Rider University, where I earned my MA in Administration, Supervision and Curriculum. I worked for 11 years in North Brunswick, NJ as a middle school math teacher.
How did you hear about Edmentum?
In 2012-2013 I began to re-evaluate my profession and my skills as an educator. The search was on for other opportunities where I would be able to contribute my knowledge and strengths of education into another field. I found Edmentum on LinkedIn and applied for the implementation coach position and I started in May of 2013. In 2014, I moved over to Overlay and am now working as an inside overlay specialist.
What interests you about the field that you are in?
I love assisting and making the day of education professionals easier. I know firsthand how difficult an educator’s job is. Even though I am not in the classroom anymore, the outcome of our students is still so important to me; they are our future. I love educating others about the resources that are available and how to effectively use them on a daily basis to make their lives easier and more efficient. Educating people is my true passion, even if I am doing it in a different way now.
What activities are you interested in outside of work?
I love to exercise (gym, paddle boarding, snowboarding, camping and running to name a few), going to the beach, and traveling. All the activities I do outside of work help me to clear my head, smile and enjoy life. Living in Belmar, NJ I am minutes away from the ocean and only a few hours to the nearest mountain. I absolutely love seeing new places, experiencing new cultures and meeting new people!
What are your professional goals?
I truly believe in education. I love teaching and training! Edmentum gives me this opportunity on a regular basis and I want to continue to share best practices with customers, as well as new members of our team.
What influential mentors have you had in your life that helped you get to where you are in your career?
My mentor is my Mom and she was an educator for over 20 years. She is retired now, but for my 11 years of teaching and my whole life she is who I looked up. Her hard work and dedication influenced me to strive to be just like her. The love she showed for her students and job made me work harder every day. My Mom puts 110% in all she does and she guided and supported me through many decisions. I always wanted to be a teacher and when I decided I wanted to leave public education, she support and assisted me with the process. This helped me make a great choice to apply with Edmentum and now I am so very happy.
