Announcing: Edmentum’s Solutions Named Teachers’ Choice Award for the Classroom Winners

The results are in for the 2016 Teachers’ Choice℠ Award (TCA) for the Classroom from Learning® magazine, and Edmentum’s foundational learning solutions, EducationCity and Reading Eggs and Reading Eggspress, each won an award this year! The 22nd annual TCA winners represent the very best in classroom-tested, teacher-recommended products following evaluation in the following areas: quality, instructional value, ease of use, and innovation.
“We are so honored and excited to have received these awards,” said Kristie Lindell, group product manager at Edmentum. “To confirm that teachers value the quality and flexibility of our programs and that we are successfully helping students improve achievement means that we have reached our goal.”
This year’s panel of teacher-judges shared both teacher and learner feedback after using each solution in their respective classrooms. Across the elementary spectrum, products were implemented in a variety of settings for whole-class, small-group, and individual instruction to help put all aspects of each solution to the test. Here we want to share some of the experiences with Edmentum solutions captured by the 2016 Teachers’ Choice Award for the Classroom evaluators:
What aspects of this product did you like most?
EducationCity:
“The animation was excellent and full of life and colors. The voices were extremely clear, and directions were given very well, especially for young learners. The arrows and flashing buttons helped kids know where to click next. The site was also full of variety and options for lessons and reinforcement. I really appreciated the “whiteboard mode.” It was perfect for whole-group lessons. Children know what they like, and they liked this!”
Reading Eggs & Reading Eggspress:
“I enjoyed that my students could independently navigate the site. All of the activities improved my students’ reading and computer skills. Having multiple practices of each skill and adding songs kept my students engaged and entertained.”
How did you integrate this product into your lesson plans?
EducationCity:
“We used EducationCity during whole-group and small-group time. Many of the activities were excellent reviews or intros to a mini-lesson. We also used the site during both literacy and math centers where kids would access materials on our classroom laptops.”
Reading Eggs & Reading Eggspress:
“This program works in the classroom easily by using it on Chromebook [laptops] or iPad [tablets] during centers. Students quickly learn to navigate themselves, allowing the teacher to work with other students. It also became a reward activity for one of my students who loved it! It was a great support for the activities and lessons we were working on [in class].”
Would you recommend this product to other elementary teachers?
EducationCity:
“Yes, I would definitely recommend this product to other teachers. It was highly engaging and filled with purposeful content. The activities were easy for students to access and complete independently. Once the students learned what to do, then they wanted to keep doing it. Something that they like makes the difference—they didn’t just like it, they loved it.”
Reading Eggs & Reading Eggspress:
“I would recommend this program to teachers in early elementary to use both in the school setting and at home. It is easy to use and really builds on reading skills at a nice pace. My students were engaged and learning, all while having fun. You know you have something good when they ask if they can do it when they first come to school!”
