[Ask an Educator] 17 Teachers Share their Goals for 2022

Time to ring in 2022! A new year is here again, and with it comes the opportunity to make the rest of the school year better than ever. One of the toughest things about starting a new year is always deciding what goals to set. For expert advice, we turned to our amazing network of educators on Twitter and Facebook and asked you to tell us: As an educator, what are your top goals for 2022? What do you hope to accomplish, or try out for the first time?

Help students feel connected
I want my class to feel connected and invested in learning. Majority of my class returned from quarantine today and we had a new student join our class 3 days before that. I want my kindergartners to be comfortable and be part of a community of learners.

Provide students with quality literature to inspire a love of reading
My goal for 2022 for my students is to continue providing them with quality high interest literature to experience. I teach at a locked juvenile facility and many of my students have been out of school for extended time. They have found passion for books!

Make sure students are ready for third grade
My top goal for 2022 is that my current students leave my classroom feeling academically prepared and emotionally equipped to go to third grade. I hope they leave knowing I love them and I'm always a safe place to come to in the future.

Integrate technology in the classroom

Be an awesome mentor

Keep up the momentum

Focus on SEL
I plan on finishing my masters. I also want to continue focusing on SEL in my classroom and learn about some new resources to support my students.

Helping students find at least one book they enjoy
My biggest goal is to increase reading fluency and comprehension while helping students find at least one book they enjoy. So many are struggling with reading right now!! I am hoping to be able to incorporate passion projects into our curriculum as well!

Build connection
I am working towards building a stronger connection between teachers and students, students and students, teachers and teachers, and school and home. Being there with and for each other is so important. I’d like to launch a student led character education committee.

Get students excited to come to school
My goal is to get learners interested in learning and coming to school daily, by giving them fun in the classroom activities that we'll be doing with them. I also want to make them feel involved in their learning, and positively reinforce their learning through frequent testing
