Back to School Mobile Resources

Mobile learning is a growing trend in classrooms, creating a more flexible, collaborative, and interactive learning experience in schools and districts. Mobile devices are changing the way that educators teach and students process the information, and they have become an assumed part of the education equation. Tablets, smartphones, and other mobile devices are being implemented in classroom and entire school districts more than ever. Your students are demanding mobile technology integration, and there is great potential for how mobile devices and learning solutions can enhance your instruction.

With the new school year approaching, it is the perfect time to start thinking about implementing mobile learning into your classroom.  One of the biggest trends in mobile education is 1:1 initiatives.  In 1:1 initiatives, schools provide every student and teacher with a laptop or tablet device from which they can access lessons, homework, and practice activities.  Holcomb (Tech Trends, 2009) notes that the most effective 1:1 initiatives are those in which students have their own devices with “continuous, direct interaction with the laptops.”
