Internship Experience at Edmentum: Brianna Becker

My name is Brianna Becker and I grew up in the suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri. I am attending school at the University of Missouri, Columbia where I will be a senior in the fall of 2016 studying Sports Management with a minor in Psychology. Outside of work and school I enjoy playing volleyball with my club team at Mizzou, cheering on my hometown sports teams, and traveling with friends and family.

I am an Inside Sales Associate Intern this summer and I have loved it! My older sister works for Edmentum and she told about the internship opportunity so I applied and moved to Texas for the summer. A typical day here for me consists of calling prospective customers and emailing them to discuss our solutions with them! Also, I have done a few projects this summer for the team. One that I really loved was coming up with an activity to help explain our department to kids during the office event called Edstravaganza. This internship has given me experience in sales by talking with customer’s and managing leads and contacts within our system.

Coming into this internship, I never had a real work environment experience but this has helped me grow as an individual and the experiences have been great. My biggest accomplishment this summer was when I was on a project in which we were inviting former customers to come to a session that Edmentum was hosting at ISTE. I was able to get 45 people to register and it was exciting to see the outcome!

During this internship, I was consistently collaborating with coworkers on projects and daily work. This helped me learn how to collaborate more effectively and taught me more about time management. When I graduate from college, I hope to work for a company that manages a professional or college sports team and I will take the skills that I learned from interning at Edmentum with me to that next experience.
