Summer Internship Experience at Edmentum

My name is Katherine and I grew up in the Dallas suburb of McKinney, Texas. Currently, I attend Texas A&M University in College Station, where I am entering my junior year. I am studying business with a specific focus in Management Information Systems. Outside of school, I enjoy traveling, attending college football games, and spending time with friends and family.

I heard about Edmentum through LinkedIn, where I found the opening for an Inside Sales Associate internship and decided to apply. My goal for the summer was to gain experience in a professional work environment while also being a part of a team and collaborate with others. After interviewing and learning more about the company and position, I believed it was the perfect fit for me and I started the internship in late May.

The ISA team is responsible for prequalifying incoming leads for the sales organization, and working to understand how Edmentum’s products align to the customers’ needs and challenges. ISA’s are also responsible for taking incoming calls and routing them to the appropriate areas within the company. A typical day was spent fulfilling the ISA role by working with prospective customers, taking calls, and prequalifying leads. I also worked with and shadowed many different departments that are involved in the sales process. In addition to this, I got the opportunity to work on various projects, which included working on email campaigns and making a guidebook which will serve as a resource for new members of the ISA team.

Over the summer, I was able to accomplish way more than I ever imagined I would get to as an intern! I became knowledgeable about all of the products and services Edmentum has to offer, and how they help students achieve success academically. The experience I gained by working with prospective customers and other departments within Edmentum was invaluable. I would say that my biggest accomplishment has been learning how to successfully speak to Edmentum’s products as a solution to the challenges educators are facing. It is very fulfilling knowing that I spent my summer doing something that has a positive impact on students’ academic successes, especially being a student myself.

Everyone at Edmentum was extremely helpful and supportive regarding any questions I had or help that I needed throughout my internship, especially all of the ISA team. I can truly say that everyone I interacted with during my internship was awesome! I learned how to work with a team in a professional work environment, which taught me so much and will benefit me tremendously in the future, both in school and professionally. Overall, I had a great experience as an ISA intern and am very thankful I got the opportunity to spend my summer with Edmentum!
