[Edmentum’s Commitment] Announcing Our New Individualized Learning Solution!

Just last week, we announced the release of our brand-new product for grade K through 6 students and teachers, Edmentum’s Individualized Learning Solution. It’s been so exciting to be a part of the research and development process for this product over the past year, and now, I’m looking forward to being able to share the details!

For us at Edmentum, our Individualized Learning Solution has taken us into new territory. It’s one part norm-referenced, adaptive diagnostics; one part learning path; and one part teacher timesaver—and we think that’s a pretty powerful combination.

When we first started working on this product, we knew that we wanted to create a program designed by educators for educators to help gain insights from data; offer targeted, effective instruction; and empower students to take ownership over their learning. With those goals in mind, we’ve created a unique solution that pairs adaptive assessments with individualized learning paths, supported by real-time reporting, to enable educators to present each student with a truly personalized classroom experience and understand trends across classrooms, grade levels, or even entire schools and districts.

At this time, our Individualized Learning Solution is available for math as well as reading and English language arts for students in kindergarten through 6th grade. We've been working with 12 different schools and over 4,000 students around the country this fall to beta the program’s diagnostic assessments, and we’re gaining invaluable feedback on the test experience for students. From this process, we're not only gathering the data we need to establish and ensure the validity of norm-referenced percentiles but also determining what enhancements and updates we can make to improve the product for next school year.

We’ve also seen the learning paths within our Individualized Learning Solution used effectively by students when they have time to work independently. These learning paths could easily fit in as a station in the classroom, but they could also work well when students are at the school library, given choice time, or even from home. Our learning paths are adaptive and built from each student’s assessment results. This means that you can trust that students are always working on lessons that are relevant and accessible and, when a student is struggling and may need more support, the system will let you know.

At Edmentum, we realize that teachers have a huge number of demands being placed on their time—and many of those demands have little to do with actually teaching. That’s why one of the driving goals for our Individualized Learning Solution is to give teachers back a little extra time in their day so that they have more opportunity to work one on one with students. Plus, it's the least we can do after the many hours that teachers gave us during interviews, classroom visits, mock-up reviews and product focus group discussions. We've worked tirelessly to create a product that really works for teachers, just as teachers themselves work tirelessly for their students day in and out.

We built our new Individualized Learning Solution to further our overarching commitment to being educators’ most trusted partner in creating successful student outcomes everywhere learning occurs, and we’re so excited to see the innovative ways that educators and students dream up to put this product to use.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll continue sharing details about our Individualized Learning Solution here on the blog and about how we’ve designed it with our dedication to quality content, simple technology, actionable data, and customer success in mind. But first, it’s time for a little celebration! We’ll be hosting a special launch party at this week’s iNACOL Blended and Online Learning Symposium in San Antonio, Texas, to offer educators a first look at this exciting new product in action. We can’t wait to celebrate all of the hard work that has gone into creating a product that works for teachers, principals, counselors, and students, including all of the ones who contributed their ideas, insight, and guidance along the way. If you’ll be attending the symposium, please join us at our celebration event for a sneak peek or stop by our booth for a demo. I'll be there, along with my colleagues, and we would love to show you the product in person!
