A Look Ahead to SXSWedu 2014
A Look Ahead to SXSWedu 2014

For the first time, Edmentum is excited to take part in the exciting, unique SXSWedu conference in Austin, TX next week.
What is it?
Many people are familiar with SXSW as a whole, with its showcases of up-and-coming bands and movie premieres. Now in its fourth year, SXSWedu brings that same energy and creativity to the world of education. Time is spent with engaging keynote and featured speakers, sessions, and workshops built around collaboration that displays the latest in education thinking.
Everything from entrepreneurialism in education to social learning to shared and open resources will be discussed by some of the leading minds in American education.
Speakers this year include Jeffrey Tambor, National Teacher of the Year Jeff Charbonneau, former Secretary of Education Rod Paige, Michelle Rhee, and Randi Weingarten.
The festival
Just like the SXSW that showcases music and movies, SXSWedu also serves as a festival to showcase the latest ideas in education. At LAUNCHedu, start-ups compete for attention and consideration as up-and-coming educational solutions. Educational documentaries are showcased at eduFILM. Finally, the Playground allows attendees to experience manipulatives and other learning tools in a hands-on environment.
There really is no other conference on the educational calendar quite like SXSWedu. To get a taste of the experience, check out these videos from previous conferences.
The Wednesday Morning Mixer
Apart from Edmentum representatives participating in the networking and sharing opportunities presented by SXSWedu, we are also hosting the Wednesday Morning Mixer, where registrants and other participants will network and figure out their schedules for the day. The Mixer will be on the 6th floor of the Hilton Austin Downtown (the main hotel for the conference) from 7:30 to 9 am on Wednesday, March 5th. Stop by to receive Edmentum prizes and a chance to win an iPad mini.
