New and Practical (and Exciting) Courses that Lead to Successful Careers

The U.S. economy continues to experience chronically high unemployment, and labor force participation is frighteningly low. According to CNN, “The labor force participation rate -- the percentage of people over 16 who either have a job or are actively searching for one -- fell to 63.2% in August. The last time it was that low was in August of 1978.” In other words, it's the lowest in 35 years.

There are a lot of reasons for this, including the simple lack of good jobs available. But at the same time, many thousands of jobs, particularly technical jobs, go unfilled. Part of the reason is a lack of workers with the necessary skills to fill those jobs. Together, we can provide your students not only with an exciting array of new elective options, but at the same time provide them with the skills they need to prepare for high-demand careers.

We've added eight new Career Technical Education (CTE) courses to Edmentum Plato Courseware, including:

  • Introduction to Accounting
  • Introduction to Social Media
  • Introduction to Marketing
  • Web Design
  • Computer Science
  • Introduction to Fashion Design
  • Game Development
  • Introduction to Business Administration

With these new offerings you can offer your students engaging online courses that are not only in demand by them, but that will effectively prepare them for careers that are in demand in today's job marketplace.

It's all about learning options, and it's all about learning options that are focused on the practical aspects of career preparation. These courses are mobile-friendly, meaning they can be accessed by more of your students in more ways than ever. And they can be easily customized by you to fit the unique learning environment that meets the needs of you and your students.

But for us, eight isn't enough – we will be releasing another 24 CTE courses in 2014. Because more choices means, well, more choices – that is, more opportunities to give your students courses they want, while preparing them for the careers that are most in demand.
