[Summer Fun] 5 Ways to Keep Students Learning Using Edmentum’s Courseware

Summer is officially here! And with it comes fun in the sun and a break from traditional school-year learning. But just because students are no longer in a classroom doesn’t mean learning has to stop. In fact, now is the time to get creative and explore how you can guide learning all year long!
Edmentum encourages creativity and is committed to meeting the needs of all learners; that’s why we make it a priority to offer highly customizable courses. And we’re happy to report that one of the most common pieces of feedback we receive from teachers is that they simply love our courses’ customization capabilities! It’s a big time saver and helps teachers dedicate more time to student interaction. We’ve put together a few ways you can customize your students’ experience to maximize learning this summer with Edmentum’s Courseware.
Scientific Exploration
Guide students who may be interested in various science courses on an exploratory journey this summer. Combine modules from multiple science courses to create a custom course and give students a taste of diverse and applicable areas of science, such as Forensic Science, Biotechnology, and Introduction to Veterinary Science. You can even incorporate Flex Assignments to create unique projects that are of interest to individual students. Brainstorm projects together with students and encourage them to pursue ideas that will get them outside! We love that our Earth and Space science course includes outdoor activity by incorporating observation of the phases of the moon for 30 days. The world is really our classroom!
Developing Creativity
Practice creative writing skills with courses like Mythology and Folklore or Gothic Literature. Have students exercise their imaginations to create original short stories. Or, students can explore our Introduction to Philosophy course and delve into the ideas of some of the most brilliant and influential thinkers of all time. If there is a need to focus on specific skills, you can pull modules from core English courses for review or continued mastery as well.
College and Career Ready Skill Development
Help students cultivate new interests and explore career paths by choosing from over 100 career and technical education course options aligned to all 16 Advanced CTE Career Clusters®. You can even get parents involved! Have parents help students set up interviews with friends and colleagues to learn more about different careers and the unique paths individuals choose to travel throughout their career(s). Based on interview exercises like this, students can then choose an Edmentum CTE course that incorporates topics and skills sets they would like to learn more about.
Learning Just For Fun!
For some students, there may not be enough time to fit all of their learning interests into a traditional school schedule. Summer is the perfect time to make learning a very personalized experience for these students. With over 400 course options, students are sure to find courses that enrich their learning or prepare them for an accelerated experience in the coming school year.
We hope these strategies to keep students engaged with Courseware will help spark ideas of your own! Share your creative approaches with us in the comments section!
