[Teacher Tips] Podcasts Every Teacher Should Check Out

Who doesn’t love a good podcast? Podcasts are an excellent way to learn a little something about pretty much anything while you drive around, clean the house, exercise, or just hang out. So, we thought it might be an excellent time to put together a little playlist of teacher-oriented podcasts as you begin to work through your back-to-school to-do list. You can listen while you set up your classroom, organize your planner, or just sit back and enjoy some free time.
Here are some of our favorite education-related podcasts:
Revisionist History is author Malcolm Gladwell’s journey through the overlooked and the misunderstood. Every episode reexamines something from the past—an event, a person, an idea, even a song—and asks whether we got it right the first time—because, sometimes, the past deserves a second chance.
On the Cult of Pedagogy podcast, host and editor in chief Jennifer Gonzalez interviews educators, students, administrators, and parents about the psychological and social dynamics of school, trade secrets, and other juicy things you’ll never learn in a textbook. Other episodes feature Gonzalez on her own, offering advice on ways to make your teaching more effective and more fun.
Joe Dombrowski (aka “Mr. D”) took the world by storm in 2017 with a viral April Fools’ Day spelling test prank that landed him multiple appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Since then, Mr. D has been traveling the world with his stand-up comedy tours like “Indoor Recess” and “School’s Out for Summer” that highlight his crazy life as an elementary school teacher. Check out his Social Studies podcast, where Mr. D and his guests study being social—by being social.
Former educator and education technology enthusiast Christopher Nesi hosts the House of #EdTech podcast, a show that explores how technology is changing the way teachers teach and what impact technology is having in education.
Join full-time teacher Vicki Davis, author of the Cool Cat Teacher Blog, as she dives into what matters most to classroom teachers. The best and brightest educators and idea creators will inspire you as they are interviewed on this show. You'll learn behind-the-scenes tips, classroom ideas, and practical mindsets for anyone working with today's students.
Consistently ranked in the top three K–12 podcasts on iTunes, Truth for Teachers aims to speak life, encouragement, and truth into the minds and hearts of educators. Hosted by the podcast’s founder and education expert Angela Watson, a new episode is released each Sunday, featuring a fresh dose of inspiration for the week ahead.
