[Weekly Inspiration] Angela Lee Duckworth Says Grit is the Key to Success

What’s the single best predictor of success? In this TED Talk, academic, psychologist, and popular science author Angela Lee Duckworth, says key to becoming a high achiever might come down to one thing: grit.

“In all those very different contexts, one characteristic emerged as a significant predictor of success. And it wasn't social intelligence. It wasn't good looks, physical health, and it wasn't IQ. It was grit.”

-Angela Lee Duckworth

In her TED Talk, Duckworth speaks on the power of growth mindset, and how studies have shown that when kids read and learn about the brain and how it changes and grows in response to challenge, they’re much more likely to persevere when they fail, because they don’t believe failure is a permanent condition.

What are some ways you can build grit as a teacher, or help foster the development of grit through encouraging a growth mindset in your classroom?
