Where to Find the Best Teacher Appreciation Deals

In addition to the breakfasts, lunches, and goodie bags, Teacher Appreciation Week always comes with plenty of giveaways, discounts, and bargains from national and local businesses. The trick is knowing where to look.

Your first stop will probably be Google. The search strings with which I had the most success were “teacher appreciation 2017” and “teacher appreciation discounts”. To make sure the information is timely, do an advanced search that limits results to the last two weeks or so. You can also refine results by including the name of your city, metropolitan region, or state to your search string.

Keep in mind that district websites often maintain a page dedicated to local and national discounts. Do a search for such a page in your district, and make sure you’re following your district’s social media for updates on relevant Teacher Appreciation Week deals. Most teachers’ unions and associations maintain a discount page as well, some of which aren’t limited solely to members.

The local news can usually be counted upon to run a story or two about Teacher Appreciation Week. In print and online, your favorite station or paper is a great outlet for the best local deals.

And, don’t forget about your school and district’s vendors; most can be counted on to hold contests and giveaways in honor of teachers. Check with everyone from your local benefits representative to international edtech companies—start by registering to win an iPad mini tablet through Edmentum’s Educator Appreciation Giveaway!

Finally, even if your favorite local vendor isn’t offering any specific Teacher Appreciation deals, they are often a good source of sponsorship for your Teacher Appreciation breakfast/brunch/lunch/happy hour or any other celebration you’ve got up your sleeve. Make the suggestion to your PTO or administration and you may be in for a great treat!
