Meet Kristi Engelthaler! Training Specialist located at our Texas office.

Tell us about yourself!

I grew up and have lived in Richardson, Texas most of my life. I went to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, where I studied Early Childhood Education with a minor in English as a Second Language. Out of college, I got a job at O’Henry Elementary in Richardson Independent School District. I taught 3rd grade and 2nd grade, respectively. Today, I live in Richardson with my husband and our dog, Ninja.


How did you hear about Edmentum?

After I decided being a classroom teacher wasn’t for me, a co-worker told me about Archipelago Learning because she knew I wanted to stay in the field of Education. When applying for a job, I realized I actually used our Study Island program during my time as a student teacher. I started at Archipelago Learning (now Edmentum) in February of 2012 as an Inside Sales Associate. I have since moved into the role of Training Specialist, which I have been in since August of 2013.

What are you and your department responsible for?

As the Training Specialist, I am responsible for running the New Hire On-boarding Program. This includes managing our internal training system, creating customized training plans for new hires with their hiring manager, and meeting with new hires on their first day to go over their individualized training plan. To ensure new hire success, I touch base with the new hires on a weekly basis. Additionally, I help prepare, schedule, and facilitate New Hire Boot Camp. My department is responsible for internal training, which includes creating internal resources, facilitating town halls/team calls (all for “Release Readiness”), and the New Hire On-boarding Program.

What interests you about the field that you are in?

I love meeting and working with new people. It’s great being able to help new hires prepare for their different roles at Edmentum. I also love being a sort of “go to” person for the new hires. As far as being part of an EdTech company, I have always had a passion for education and love that our programs create solutions that positively impact students and help make the lives of educators a little bit easier.

What is the most enjoyable aspect of your job?

I would say one of the most enjoyable aspects of my job is meeting and interacting with new hires to help ensure the start of a successful career at Edmentum. I also have an amazing work family. They make the work day so much fun.

What activities are you interested in outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy doing anything outdoors. This could be riding bikes, walking my puppy, Ninja, or simply relaxing in a hammock or at the park with a good book. I’ve always loved getting outside and exploring new places.

What are your professional goals?

My professional goals are to continue to enhance the New Hire On-boarding Program to ensure new hire success from the start.
