8 Teachers Share the Funniest Thing a Student Has Ever Said to Them

As an educator, you spend quite a bit of time around your students and get to experience everything they say and do – the good, the bad, and the hilarious. We asked our community of educators on Facebook to share the funniest thing a student has ever said to them – and the results provided us with lots of laughter! Here’s a few of our favorites:
- “After looking at a picture of me taken one year ago, a student said "Why do you look sooooo much older now?" I guess one year of teaching does age you 15 years” – Kelly T.
- “When I was teaching about the 1920s in class, I had a student ask if I was born during the 1920s because I really seemed to enjoy talking about the decade. (at the time I was in my 20s. So it made me feel real old.)” – Kristen S.
- “One of my favorites was when a kid looked at me with all seriousness and asked, “Are you going to Monster Jam this weekend??”” – Katie G.
- “My students saw a picture of me in a strapless gown, at a charity ball. One of them went home and told his parents he saw me in a TOPLESS dress.” – Nancy S.
- “Heading out to the field during our first fire-alarm drill and a kindergarten student walks by me and with a frustrated look on his face asks, "Do you know what THIS is all about?!"” – Lois L.
- ““If we can work on Study Island at home then will you know if my mom does it for me? - asking for a friend of course”” – Kristy M.
- “A first grade student told me in a very surprised yet disgusted way on the hot playground, “I can’t believe adults make kids do this!” and refused to play in the sweltering sun.” – Beverly B.
- “After I told my students I was from Ireland, a student asked me, "What state is Ireland in?"” – Eric L.
Kids sure say the darndest things! We hope this post provided you with a much-needed little bit of laughter. And don't forget to check out Nine Student Slang Terms Decoded to make sure you're staying hip and cool with the latest lingo.
