Unpacking the Whole-Learner Model and Connecting to Classroom SEL Practices

Unpacking the Whole-Learner Model and Connecting to Classroom SEL Practices

The whole-learner model is gaining popularity as the benefits of social-emotional learning (SEL) become clearer. In this pre-recorded video from ISTE 2021, Edmentum’s SEL Learning Designer, Jen Perry, connects the whole-learner model to classroom practices and SEL integration.

In this session, we examine one of the keys for SEL education: developmental relationships. Whole learners are nurtured by relationships. They flourish with support from executive function and social and emotional learning and SEL provides the foundation for academic success.

Our new understanding of emotions and their role in learning reinforces the importance of creating psychologically safe environments.
