Visit Edmentum at ILA 2015!

The International Literacy Association’s annual conference starts tomorrow, and Edmentum is very excited to be headed to St. Louis to attend!

This year’s conference will bring together thousands of literacy educators and advocates for four days of connecting, sharing, and learning about topics surrounding this year’s theme, “Transforming Lives through Literacy”. This is a powerful message, and one that we at Edmentum believe in whole-heartedly. With the spotlight on nurturing young readers like never before, building strong literacy skills in the foundational years that are carried throughout formal education is key to opening doors to college and career success later on.

Being in the midst of so many educators passionate about such an important issue is inspiring and energizing, and it begs a question that we have been asking frequently lately – why? The work of educators is challenging, demanding, and sometimes thankless. So why are educators in education? Why are they so dedicated and passionate about literacy?

We began asking this question at ISTE 2015 a couple of weeks ago, and we have been blown away by the responses we received. We want to continue asking this question at ILA 2015! We will be asking visitors to post their “why” to social media, and we’ll collect and display the responses we receive throughout the conference in real-time. We can’t wait to hear your ‘why’—with a literacy twist!

So, come visit us at booth #1238! We’ll also have plenty of prizes (including several iPad mini tablets!), our always popular “Beat the Pro” and “Plinko” games, and a full schedule of presentations on trends in online learning, literacy education, and our products. In addition, we’ll be showcasing and demoing exciting new enhancements to our web-based literacy program, Reading Eggspress, which builds on students’ love for reading to develop reading comprehension skills for 2nd through 6th graders.

Even if you can’t attend ILA 2015 in person, be sure to keep up with all the conference events and highlights by following the hashtag #ILA2015. You can also join in the conversation with Edmentum and offer your answer to our question of “Why?” by following the hashtag #WhyITeach. We can’t wait to see you in St. Louis!
